Frequently asked questions

Will converting to PNG restore quality my JPG already lost?
No. PNG is lossless from this point forward, but it can't undo compression artifacts the JPG already had before you converted it.
Why is the PNG file bigger than the original JPG?
PNG's lossless compression takes up more space than JPG's lossy approach for the same photographic content — that extra size is the cost of not degrading further on future saves.
Does it work with .jpeg files as well as .jpg?
