Apple switched iPhones to the HEIC format because it stores photos at roughly half the file size of a JPG at similar quality, saving storage and iCloud space. The catch is most Windows PCs, many Android phones, older apps, and plenty of websites still cannot open HEIC files, so a photo that looks fine on an iPhone can show up as a blank icon everywhere else. This converter turns HEIC and HEIF files, including Live Photo stills, into standard JPGs that open anywhere, running entirely inside your browser so nothing is uploaded and there is no transfer to wait on.

How it works

Live Photos are supported too: the tool converts the still HEIC frame to JPG while the motion portion stays with the original in Photos or your export.

2. Conversion runs on your device

A small HEIC decoder loads in your browser, unpacks the photo, and re-saves it as a high-quality JPG. Nothing is transmitted during this step. Because the conversion redraws the photo, metadata such as the date taken, camera model, and GPS location does not carry over; your original HEIC file and its metadata stay untouched.

3. Download your JPG

Frequently asked questions

Why can't anything open my HEIC files?
HEIC is a newer format Apple adopted to halve photo file sizes. Support outside Apple devices is still patchy — converting to JPG makes photos universally compatible.
Does converting reduce photo quality?
The converter saves JPGs at high quality (90%), which is visually indistinguishable from the original for photos. File sizes typically grow slightly because JPG is less efficient than HEIC.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The HEIC decoder runs inside your browser and your photos never leave your device. The decoder itself loads lazily the moment you convert your first file, so once that first conversion has finished you can keep converting more photos with no internet connection at all.
Can I convert many photos at once?
